Revit
Revit is a computer software for building information modelling. It was developed by Charles River Software, later renamed Revit Technologies Corporation. It was created using the C++ programming language. First released in 2000, the latest version of the software was released in 2024. Revit, which has support in different languages, is installed with its internal processing engine.
Advantages of Revit
- It comes with a huge library of pre-built doors, roofs, walls etc to ease modelling work.
- It supports multiple file formats like RVT, RFA, RTE, RFT, DGN, DWG, DXF, IFC, SAT, BMP, PNG, JPG, JPEG, TIF etc.
- It allows modifying 3d elements to 2d designs easily.
- It has advanced tools to make precise buildings and calculate different features like area, volume, etc.
Disadvantages of Revit
- It is available for Windows Operating systems only.
- It lacks in backward compatibility means models designed in the older versions of Revit are not supported in the newer versions.
